About Readingroots Sound Effects

Replying to @Emma Hopefully this strategy will support your little one with their blending. Having a pen and paper to hand (or even better a small whiteboard!) is really useful so you can add the sound buttons for them to press. #readingroots #phonics #learningenglish #parentingtips #reading #reception #earlyreading #blending #soundbuttons

In Phase 5 phonics, pupils will learn to read and spell these sounds. In this phase there are some alternative graphemes for sounds they have learnt (e.g. 'wh' saying /w/ in where). They will also be introduced to more advanced sounds such as ‘ea’. Phase 5 sounds are normally taught in Year One, although some children are ready earlier than this, and others will need reinforcement of these sounds into Year 2 and beyond. By Phase 5 children should become quicker at blending, and start to do it silently. They also learn about split digraphs (the ‘magic e’) such as the a-e in ‘cake.’ #learningenglish #learningtoread #reading #phonics #phase5phonics #parentingtips #readingroots
3 letter sounds???? Teach these to your child to help them learn the phonics code! For the other sounds of English check out my free “Crack the Sounds Code” via the link in my bio! #phonics #earlyreading #learntoread #readingroots #earlyliteracy #reception #kindergarten #phonemes #trigraph
Say “fff” not “fuh” Say “lll” not “luh” etc The u turns from a short vowel sound into a long vowel sound due to the “magic e”/split digraph #readingroots #phonics #learningenglish #parentingtips #reading #reception #earlyreading #blending #splitdigraph
Watch this demo about when we say “th” softly (unvoiced) such as in moth… and when we say “th” in a harder way (voiced)… There are of course exceptions to this rule (because English is English and never straight forward!) But I hope it helps! #th #readingroots #phonics #earlyreading #parentingtips #learningenglish #learntoread

Words with the sound “augh”- not forgetting the exception of “laugh” and “draught”. Can you think of any other quadgraphs? #readingroots #phonics #learningenglish #parentingtips #earlyreading #blending #reading
Avoid saying the “uh” at the end of the sound. It helps when they blend if you keep the sound pure #readingroots #phonics #learningenglish #parentingtips #reading #earlyreading #toddlers #reception #blending
