About Rarefindssound Sound Effects

Congratulations if you guessed creaking wood tree on my previous ‘Guess the Sound’ post. I found these beautiful mossy trees in an old granite quarry on Dartmoor. The trees are twisted and gnarled which makes for some wonderful creaking sounds. With a light breeze you can hear the branches rattle and wobble but with a bit of gentle persuasion, I was able to record the larger branches rubbing against each other. It reminded me of Ents in LotR. . #fieldrecording #reels #asmr #nature #tree #sound #sfx #sounddesign
Picking up all the weird electrical sounds of my old PlayStation 2 with a telephone pickup coil & Sony M10. This PlayStation has survived well over a decade and it still turns on. Beast! . #asmr #sfx #sounddesign #audio #soundeffects
Guess the sound reveal! Bowed rusty metal. When I pack my bags to explore an industrial area I always make sure I bring my cello bow. It’s a brilliant way to turn simple objects into cinematic SFX. With these clean source recordings I can create everything from stingers, braams, risers, drones and tonal transitions. This particular recording was captured with the Magnetic Tellus microphone going into the Zoom H5s and I was bowing what looked like a rusty oil drum thing at an abandoned slate quarry. So when you next pack your bag to explore an abandoned place, grab your cello/violin bow. #reels #sounddesign #sfx #horror #sounds #sound #abandoned
If you listen carefully, you can hear the distant sound of the Snowdon mountain railway train climbing up the hill. These locomotives use a rack and pinion system. So instead of relying solely on the friction between the train wheels and the rails, the Snowdon Mountain Railway uses a toothed rack rail between the standard rails. It looks a bit like a cog and it’s almost as if you’re winding the train up the mountain. The train heads up and down from the summit a few times a day. Taking passengers and workers up to the cafe at the top. I’m yet to ride the train! . #reels #snowdonia #nature

A quick little test with the new Zoom H5 Studio this afternoon. I’m really excited to get out and do some proper recording with it asap. I have a few ideas on what I’ll be using it for so keep an eye out for more videos. . #nature #Hiking #asmr #reels #river #water #relaxing #mindfulness
