Like many things in life, mixing is a skill you develop through putting in the reps. I am a firm believer that you get better at mixing by mixing. By trying new things and attempting different techniques. Now here is the disclaimer. You need to be making adjustments and improvements every time. You mixing won’t get better if you always do the same things and never change. In order to improve, you need to mix, and then get feedback and move forward. Compare to references, and get honest feedback from trusted colleagues and friends. The more you mix, and make improvements based on feedback from yourself or others, the better you will get. #livesound #audioengineering #proaudio #soundboard #mixing

Monitor Engineer POV mix for @Turnpike Troubadours #livemusic #audioengineer #proaudio
I love my monitor rig I’ve done my best to get my rig as streamlined and condensed as possible, and I am quite happy with the results. One triple wide, console, distro, workbox, feeder case, and snake case. Don’t need much, but it gets the job done. Curious to know if people need/want help designing rigs. Let me know in the comments. #livesound #monitorengineer #monitorworld #monitormixing #audioengineering #loadin

“Touring is hard. Be the person that makes touring a little less lonely for your crew mates.” Leaving home and spending days, weeks, or even months at a time on the road is hard. Leaving behind spouses, significant others, family, and friends is hard. Leaving routine and comforts of home is hard. But touring with people whom you care about and who care about you makes a huge difference. I know some people tour as a way to escape life and they are can’t wait until they get to leave home. I’m the opposite. While I love my job, it’s a means to an end and leaving home and everything that entails is always hard. Thankfully I tour with people that make the leaving home more bearable. People that are pleasant to be around and with whom I can talk about real life and real struggles. Touring is hard and lonely, but every day I strive to be the crew mate that makes leaving home a little more bearable for everyone.
