This is the CRAZIEST story from any song I’ve produced so far: the lead vocal is recorded on two completely different microphones, in two completely different rooms. It just goes to show how incredible the @Universal Audio Sphere DLX is at emulating the world’s best. It’s not perfect yet, but I imagine as engineers continue to improve this technology, vintage microphones will essentially be obsolete in the coming years. Also, just a disclaimer: I’m fully aware my studio isn’t bad, and I’m INCREDIBLY fortunate to have what I have. In this context, however, it’s FAR from being an ideal recording environment (my kitchen and buzzing fridge is literally in the same room, and I have no acoustic treatment other than a bit of foam). My ideal vocal chain will not be identical to yours, because we have different voices, different rooms, and (probably) different equipment.
