It’s a lot easier to feel at peace with a conflict at work, or a knee twinge, when you consider the pure luck that meant you weren’t hit by that bus yesterday. Or that you weren’t on the receiving end of a life-changing phone call. In the same vain, we can reduce our anxiety by reminding ourselves that the perfect nirvana - where we’re finally satisfied with life and no longer ruminate over minor inconveniences - will never arrive. Your life will never be problem-free. Anxiety will never be non-existence. You’ll never not feel flashes of melancholy for no reason. ‘You’ve changed’ The sweetest words to hear on your self-improvement journey. But be wary of the tone of these words. A happy, secure person would never see this as a bad thing. Nor would someone who wants the best for you. If not changing since you were 17 years old is a virtue to someone, they are not worth your time. We shouldn’t forget that we were once the same - otherwise they wouldn’t be in our circle - and so a chip on our shoulder would be sanctimonious. But we shouldn’t take on their unhappiness either. Change. Be better. Try. And when those around you reveal resentment, take a mental note. This journey can be a lonely one at times. But when you no longer spend weekends hungover and anxious, get out of breath running for 10 minutes and spend each Sunday night dreading a job you hate - it will all be utterly worth it. #SelfImprovement #selfhelp #bettereveryday #youvechanged #CapCut
