A stranger was caught on camera abducting a three-year-old girl while inside a shopping mall. A man followed her from the play area while on his phone. He bent down to pick up the toddler before he quickly made his way into the store. The girl's father realized his daughter was missing and called his wife, who was inside the store. Court records seen by NBC say the woman then spotted the man carrying her daughter and confronted him, they managed to get their daughter back safely. In 2016 an Australian family of five fled their home leaving behind their passports, phones and credit cards. The Tromp family disappeared only to turn up one by one after a week-long journey of more than 1,600km (995 miles), which ended with a police investigation and two of them in psychiatric care. Here is the timeline of events: * Monday 29th August 2016, Mark and Jacoba Tromp told their children Riana, Mitchell and Ella to leave their home and get in the car. It was later revealed that Mark and Jacoba had been suffering increasing signs of stress and paranoia, at least one of them had become convinced that someone was trying to k*ll them to get their money. * The only phone that was not left behind belonged to Mitchell, 30km away from home, Mitchell was told to throw his phone out of the window. Mitchell was the only one in the family who wasn’t swept up in the belief that they were in danger, but he complied and threw it out of the window anyway. * The family drove through the first day and night until reaching New South Wales. It was there at 7am Tuesday morning Mitchell left the family and took a train home. * Later on Tuesday morning the four headed to a popular tourist spot, the Jenolan caves. It was there that Riana and Ella stole a car and parted from their parents. * The two sisters drove to the town of Goulburn, where they reported their parents missing. Shortly after the pair spilt up and a few hours later Ella arrived home followed by Mitchell who returned home the following morning. * Mitchell and Ella appeared unaffected mentally, however Riana did not, she was found in the back of a utility vehicle by a driver after he had driven almost an hour away. He pulled over and found Riana in a ‘catatonic’ state, saying she didn’t know who or where she was. Riana was taken to hospital and went into psychiatric care. * Mark and Jacoba drove for another day when they later separated. Jacoba was found alone the next day wondering in an agitated state. She was taken to hospital and also put into psychiatric care with her daughter Riana. * During this time Mark started to tailgate a young couple, eventually the couple pulled over, but so did mark, he then got out of his car and ran towards them, randomly stopping in the middle of the road staring at them before running off into a nearby carpark and vanishing. * Back at home Mitchell and Ella made an emotional plea for their father to come home. When finally after six days Mark Tromp was found near the Wangaratta airport. While being driven away mark flashed his middle finger at the media. It is unclear why the family fled like they did, theories ranged from psychosis caused by chemicals used on their farm, to suggestion that they were running from debt collectors- this theory was proven to be false as the family stated that they had no debts.
