“What switch is the best?” Switches definitely play a big role in the feeling and sound of a keyboard, but it’s all about preference! And there are many more things in a keyboard build that affect its sound. Putting a switch that sounds creamy or poppy on someone else’s keyboard might not sound the same on yours, unless it’s the same board and you mod it the same way! Simple keyboard mods anyone can do, featuring my adorable TINT60! 🤍🩵💙 (by Iterkeebs, IG only) { TAPE MOD — creates a fuller, and sometimes louder, thockier sound } I like 2-3 layers usually but even 1 layer changes the sound! I use Painters Tape for all my tape mods not only because they are so wide (and takes less time to do 2-3 layers 😆) but also because it’s not that sticky and thus easier to remove than masking tape. It leaves less sticky residue or none at all. Tape mods are most safely done on wired keyboards with no battery. ⚠️ For keebs with a battery, if you want to be extra safe, you could use electrical tape for the outermost layer as a barrier! Note: I always test the way mods sound before putting the board completely back together. Not shown in this video, is if you like the tape mod effect, you’ll need to cut out the screw points (and any cable connector points) before reassembling everything! Cut carefully, lifting the tape up if you need to check, or using a pen to mark all the cutout points. { FOAM IN SPACE BAR — helps to adsorb some of the hollow, high pitch clacky sound } I used leftover Poron foam, but I’ve also seen people use a thick double sided ‘jelly’ tape and it seemed effective! Always test the feeling of the spacebar after you put in the foam. You shouldnt actually FEEL any foaminess at all - if you do, the foam is too thick or you put it too close to the switch/stabilizers. Can @Razer compete with custom keyboards? 🤔 Let me know what you think! — Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow V4 75% (this is the compact version of the full V4!) Mouse: Razer Cobra — I think this keyboard will make a lot of gamers and typers happy! For keyboard enthusiasts who love a smooth thock or clack, is this the BEST option out there? No, but it’s honestly a pretty good prebuilt GAMING keyboard. The finish and build of the board is very nice, and I especially love the wrist-rest it comes with. My partner who likes tactiles LOVES the Orange Tactile switches, but I was lucky to try the Razer Yellow Linears (as someone who prefers linears in general), and can share that I do personally enjoy those more :) - If I have to nitpick, the stabilizers are a little rattly, and the sound can be a bit thin or quiet with the ABS keycaps - this can also be a plus for late-night gaming lol.
