What did yall think about this chapter? Again, I’m struck by God’s pursuit. Scripture comes alive when I remember God is loving and merciful. He didn’t give up on humanity, the flood was to save it. Satan had infiltrated our bloodline through either demonic possession or fallen angels procreating with humans (we don’t know exactly which one). The messiah could not be brought forth within that. Also the longer he allowed it to go on, the more children were born into an inevitable death. THE RAVEN!! I’ve never noticed the raven in this story. It’s the first bird that Noah sends out and it doesn’t come back. I would be JUMPING to get outta that ark but Noah was patient. He obeyed God, sent the dove, and waited for God to tell him to come out. That internal narrative I was imagining is really what drove this broadway style piece. What are your thoughts on this chapter? In the ESV translation, God tells Cain that sin’s desire is “contrary” to him. Meaning opposite in nature. It makes me see his conversation with Cain as more of a call to self, to remember who God sees him as, and not who sin says he is. It also stood out to me when Cains descendant is seen making a boastful and prideful declaration about how great he is, but he’s never mentioned again in scripture.
