I felt deeply honored when the @Minnesota Orchestra approached me to compose this work. Initially, I had reservations about accepting the commission due to the piece’s significant importance. After immersing myself in Minneapolis, connecting with local artists, activists and community members, hearing their stories, and visiting George Floyd Square, I felt confident that I was able to take it on.
