Can We Hear Black Holes The Sound of Space-Time Ripples 👂🕳️ Can you hear a black hole? When they collide, they ripple space-time itself — and yes… we’ve turned those ripples into sound. 🎧🌌 This is what the universe sounds like when giants collide. #SoundOfSpace #BlackHoles #GravitationalWaves #AstroTok #ScienceTok #FYP #TikTokMadeMeThink #SpacetimeRipples #LIGO #CosmicSounds #PhysicsTok #MysteriousUniverse #DarkCosmos #ListenToTheUniverse #ForYouPage
#REPOST @astrophysicsmania with @get__repost__app Melodies of the Universe🌌 Sound on and swipe for more👉 If Space is Vacuum, then how can we hear any sounds? Yes, you are right, we can’t. However, it’s possible to process any other kind of wave or oscillation electronically, scaling it to audible frequencies and then converting it into a sound wave. It is called Sonification. Even though no sound can travel in space, sonifications provide a new way of experiencing and conceptualizing data. It allows the audience, including blind and visually impaired communities, to “listen” to astronomical images and explore their data. Video Descriptions: 👉🏽1st Video: Hubble image of the Helix Nebula converted to sound. Colour is mapped to pitch (red=low, blue=high) and brightness controls volume. Red indicates the presence of hydrogen and nitrogen and blue indicates oxygen. The Helix Nebula, or Eye of Sauron, is 655 light years away and 3 light years across. 👉🏽2nd Video: In this new sonification of Perseus, the sound waves astronomers previously identified were extracted and made audible for the first time. Now a new sonification brings more notes to this black hole sound machine. 👉🏽3rd Video: Space becomes “sonified” in this visualization of a cluster of galaxies imaged by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope. Time flows left to right, and the frequency of sound changes from bottom to top, ranging from 30 to 1,000 hertz. Objects near the bottom of the image produce lower notes, while those near the top produce higher ones. 👉🏽4th Video: In this sonification, the colors in the images were mapped to pitches of sound — frequencies of light converted directly to frequencies of sound. 👉🏽5th Video: This is the sound of two black holes colliding a billion light years away from our solar system recorded by LIGO experiment.
