I love little puppetry tricks like this. Using blue suits to do full-body puppetry with Fraggles was always a treat to watch and perform on set. It reminds me of the Bunraku-style of rod puppetry that first ignited my passion for puppetry in theatre. Jordan Lockhart is a fantastic puppeteer and does such wonderfully comedic and heartfelt work with Wembly. This episode (The Twisty-Turny-Thon) is one of my favourites for him and Red. The laughs! Ever wonder how Fraggles are brought to life IN the pond? Here’s a look behind the scenes of @The Jim Henson Company’s Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock. Basically, we put our arms up through a hole under the pond and into a glove. Then the puppet (now MUCH heavier from all the water) is put on our hands. In this clip, the amazing Dina Meschkuleit from the Creature Shop gets me out of a Fraggle during the holiday special “Night of the Lights”. Once your arm is up and in the puppet, it takes a quite a bit of work to get it off, so we usually just keep them up there between takes. It can get a BIT spicy on the forearms and wrists.
