Saturday 20th marked a heartfelt and memorable occasion as we bid farewell to Dr. Zahir, the immediate past Dean of the School of Medicine at UMST Rwanda Campus. His official departure from the campus is set for Monday, closing a significant and impactful chapter in our institution’s history. In a warm and emotional gathering, the Vice-Chancellor, faculty, staff, and colleagues came together to celebrate Dr. Zahir’s exemplary leadership, unwavering dedication, and the many lasting contributions he has made during his tenure. Speakers from across the campus shared moving tributes, reflecting the deep respect, admiration, and gratitude he has inspired throughout his service. In his farewell address, Dr. Zahir shared his own mixed emotions—expressing how difficult it is to say goodbye to such a supportive and dedicated team. He spoke fondly of the collaborative spirit that has been the hallmark of his experience at UMST Rwanda Campus. As Dr. Zahir embarks on a new chapter as Associate Professor of Urology at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, we are confident that he will continue to lead, inspire, and excel. The UMST community extends its heartfelt best wishes for his continued success and fulfillment in this exciting new role. Looking ahead, we are pleased to announce that Professor Bushra Hussein Ahmed Abdelmalik will assume the role of Dean of the Medical College, effective 23 June 2025.
