As many of you know, there was a period of almost 12 to 13 years when Chicago was the murder capital of the United States. So, regardless of how they try to say the numbers have dropped, the reality is the numbers have been astronomically high. Even if they drop a little every other year, there is still a serious problem. Most Chicago residents who live on the West and South Side will tell you as much—they do not feel safe. We’ll probably see the same thing we saw in D.C., where many residents were happy when Trump sent in the troops. These troops are not out there abusing people; we don’t have any evidence of that. Many have said they feel safer. The only ones who are mad are those who blindly hate Trump. No matter what he does, they can’t be objective. They just want to be against him. That’s problematic. That’s immature. We can’t trust emotionally unhinged people. We have a serious problem here in Chicago.
