I want to address everything that’s been unfolding regarding my canceled show in Ishbilia/Saida once & for all. To start I wanted to share this clip of my performance of Sharaf at the Baalbeck International Festival in 2021 in the Bekaa valley East of Lebanon where I was welcomed by both the festival committee and the locals with open arms and respect to my art and expression. I was given the honor to be the first artist in modern history to EVER perform at the Ksarnaba Temple in the Bekaa & I will forever treasure this experience as one of the most special in my career. A couple of months ago I was approached and booked by a passionate promoter to perform in Saida, we went for a site visit and were shown around 7 venues. After much debate & many factors taken into consideration we decided that Ishbilia was a good choice for the venue & Mario Moubarak as my co-headliner. The venue agreed to host us & I’m assuming did their research on who we both are & what we do. A few days before the concert, I was informed that the venue in question, no longer wants to host me (specifically) as my latest release ‘Ghtayta’ does not align with their values. It was very disappointing to me, the team & my fans as we were all very excited to be getting together in a show in the South, leaving the promoter who has been nothing but an advocate of me in a real contractual and financial mess. That being said, everyone involved agrees that the best decision moving forward is to cancel the show in Saida for now, my shows are a safe space to celebrate art, freedom of speech and I would never put us at risk of having anything less than a great, fun & safe show. I know the decision to cancel the show DOES NOT represent everyone in Saida: A beautiful vibrant place with diverse mentalities. unfortunately this time we just weren’t able to make it happen but I hope & aim to be able to come back! I DO NOT condone any hate or threats of violence towards Ishbilia or the people of Saida & I urge everyone to move on from this unfortunate incident. Thank you for all the support that I’ve been receiving in the past couple of days, It’s been truly overwhelming I’m so so blessed. We will be taking the show somewhere else so stay tuned.
